The Callisto Protocol earned mixed reviews upon its release, with complaints about the game’s short length, lack of features like New Game+, and lackluster boss fights. It seems The Callisto Protocol’s mixed reviews have hurt Krafton’s stock price, with the game’s launch seeing the company’s stock drop a whopping 8.41 percent.

As reported by VGC, The Callisto Protocol’s mixed reception has caused Krafton’s stock to reach its lowest point in nearly a month. While The Callisto Protocol has earned some positive reviews, most critics scored it in the 6 or 7 range, citing the aforementioned issues and other problems they’ve had with the game. Callisto Protocol user reviews have been significantly more negative than critic reviews, especially on PC. For one reason or another, the PC version of The Callisto Protocol appears to struggle from more serious performance problems than what console gamers on PlayStation and Xbox have been experiencing.
Krafton’s stock will likely bounce back thanks to PUBG and its other games. It’s also possible that public perception on The Callisto Protocol can be turned around. After all, The Callisto Protocol is getting a New Game+ mode and other new features in free updates next year, and there are also plans for the game to receive a paid DLC expansion at some point next summer. These updates could go a long way in addressing concerns fans have had about The Callisto Protocol and help it better live up to its full potential.
It’s also possible The Callisto Protocol reviews won’t have a major impact on the game’s sales, though that remains to be seen. It’s well-known that horror games are generally more difficult to sell than other games, and it’s unlikely Callisto Protocol will be any different. Then again, those hungry for a new Dead Space-style experience may overlook the reviews and decide to buy the game anyway.
Others may just decide to wait for the release of the Dead Space remake, which is currently scheduled to launch on January 27 for PC and next-generation consoles. Whatever the case may be, it will be interesting to see how The Callisto Protocol fares sales-wise.
The Callisto Protocol is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
